Well LBL didn’t go as I had hoped. It was pretty cold, but despite that I felt very comfortable at the beginning. I could tell it was going to be a good day. I was so comfortable that I really needed to take a leak. Only 25km into the race I couldn’t wait any longer and jumped off my bike and went (I have trouble going off the bike). The whole caravan passed me and my director was not happy with my decision. It was a horrible time to do this as the race was going fast. Well I had to waste a lot of energy, but I chased back on through the caravan, but it took me almost 10km. I got back into the pack and tried to recover. We hit a hill and I was a little uncomfortable, but still feeling better than most of the guys that I was with at the back. I was conservative and moved up after we crested, making my way back to the front. I was being patient, because the first real climb wasn’t until 83km into the race. It had started to rain and crashes were happening too often. A guy went down a few spots ahead of me and I hit him, jumping over my bars and landing on some guys fancey carbon wheels. The riders behind me plowed into my bike, so I had to untangle it and looked it over, it was not a happy bike, but I put the wheel back it and the chaing back on, then hopped on and loosesned the brakes, because the rear wheel was rubbing. I never caught back on though, because that ordeal took too much time. I was frustrated, but there was nothing I could do. I didn’t even get to see how I climbed, because this happened only like 50 or 60km into the race. I am not verry happy about that, but it is out of my control, that’s racing. However the stopping to piss thing was a huge mistake, probably up there with some of the dumbest things I have ever done.
Hopefully I will have better luck in France at Haut Anjou.
