I am back in the US now. I left a little early after having a bad race and dropping out the first day. Check out my travel schedule… I stopped at the train station and had my flight changed. I even spent the night in the brussels airport

Of course I had to make a spreadsheet… I am such a nerd

This post is way too late, but I wanted to write a little about my last race in Spain 3 weeks ago. It was the Cinturon Mallorca or something like that, but it was on an Island famous for Pearls. The race was good and I am not really going to get into the specifics of the race. I just had some encounters with old friends/acquintances that I wanted to mention.
There were a lot of German teams and a Russian team (Tinkoff) that did really well. The crazy thing about this race was that I was seeing people I knew? First of all Brad Armstrong raced with us, so it was good to see him. He is riding for Orbea now, so he is living in the Basque Country of Spain. He also (as of this writing, but not as of the race) is a new father. Any ways it was good to race with him, someone from my region in the U.S. that I started out racing Juniors with. The next person I saw that I had met before was a guy named Dave Sojo. He raced Joe Martin and Tri-Peaks last year in Arkansas, and had some interest in riding for Mercy. Well he isn’t doing so bad, riding for the Spanish pro team Spiuk. I think they are actually doing the Vuelta a Espana this year, but I could be wrong. The next encounter with a friendly face was when I was warming up for the prologue. I heard a non american, but familiar voice say “hey Alex how are you?”. It was Dominik Roels. He had been living in Oklahoma with a family in the Spring and summer of 2004. We had raced together a lot in the Oklahoma and Texas region and were pretty good friends, but we lost contact when he left because for some reason he says he emails me, but I never get them, maybe he’s a spammer? Any ways he is riding really strong now, despite being one of the youngest riders in the race, he got 16th in the prologue, which was really good at this race.
So that’s it, nothing about the race… Just that it’s a small world out there.
